Rushcliffe Care Limited expands portfolio with acquisition of Glossop nursing home

Rushcliffe Care Limited – one of the country’s largest independent care home operators – has continued its expansion in the East Midlands with the acquisition of Oakford Manor nursing home in Glossop.

The Loughborough-based company now operates around 22 homes in England providing more than 1000 beds, with its geographical coverage extending to Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Essex.

Rushcliffe Care was advised on the deal by David Kaplan, Head of Corporate and Commercial at East Midlands’ law firm, Flint Bishop, while Colin Peacock, Head of Corporate Finance at accountants Greenhalgh & Co in Nottingham, advised on the tax, accounting and commercial aspects.

The latest acquisition follows the acquisition of Derby-based Arleston View Limited, the purchase of learning disabilities company Moorcourt Developments Limited and a number of homes in Essex in the past two years.

Chief executive Surjit Rai said the acquisition of Oakford Manor – bought for a substantial amount – was the latest step in the group’s planned programme of
expansion throughout the country.

He said: “We are continually looking at new opportunities and will seek to strengthen further our position as one of England’s leading independent providers in both the nursing home and adult specialist care sectors.”

Rushcliffe Care, whose head office is based in Epinal Way, Loughborough, has won several major industry accolades in recent years including overall winner of the Success Through People Award 2007 in the Leicestershire Business Awards 2007; Finalist of the Leicestershire Business of the Year award 2007; best employer of more than 250 staff in the National Training Awards 2004 and Independent Care Operator of the Year in 2001.

It was also named as one of the East Midlands’ fastest growing companies by Finance Midlands Insider Business and Finance magazine three years ago.

Its acquisition of Oakford Manor brings Rushcliffe Care’s total workforce to more than 1000.

David Kaplan said he was delighted to advise Rushcliffe Care on yet another strategic deal and to assist the business with its ongoing growth plans.

“Rushcliffe Care continues to go from strength to strength. It is an extremely well run business that provides quality care services to all its residents which has been recognised by the industry. The addition of Oakford Manor will increase the geographical reach of the business.”

Funding for the deal was provided by NatWest’s specialist healthcare team in Derby led by Kenny Nelson.
