East Midlands’ law firm Flint Bishop has promoted commercial property solicitors Christine Pickup and Beverley Simms to partners.
Christine, who joined Flint Bishop seven years ago as a trainee solicitor, qualified into the Commercial Property Department in September 2002.
Her responsibilities include acting for developers in relation to the acquisition of sites for residential development, assisting in the acquisition of sites for commercial development and acting for landlords and tenants in relation to the negotiation of commercial leases.
She also acts for developers and individuals in negotiating and preparing option agreements, conditional contracts and deed of grants of easement.
Beverley joined Flint Bishop in May 2004 from Actons Solicitors, where she trained and later became an assistant solicitor.
Her workload includes freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, insolvency disposals, business purchase and sales, corporate support work and all aspects of landlord and tenant work.
She also undertakes development work in relation to conditional contracts, options and overage agreements.
Both Christine and Beverley read law at Nottingham Trent University and sat the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.
Christine, aged 31, is originally from Sheffield but now lives in Derby.
She enjoys scuba diving and reading in her spare time.
Beverly, aged 42, decided to pursue a career in law when she was 26 after initially working for the family business.
She lives in Nottingham and lists her favourite pastimes as horse riding, theatre and motor home holidays with her husband and two children.
Congratulating the new partners on their promotions, senior partner Ian Beardmore added: “Beverley and Christine are highly valued members of the team and their promotion to partner is well deserved.
“Our commercial property department has – in line with the rest of the firm - grown significantly in recent years and is able to offer clients the highest levels of expertise and experience across all areas of commercial property law.”
Flint Bishop, with offices in Derby, Nottingham and Ashbourne, now employs 270 staff and 23 partners.
