FLINT BISHOP HITS DEALS RECORD

Flint Bishop’s corporate team across Nottingham and Derby has hit record levels of corporate deal activity, completing 16 deals during the six week period up to the end of October alone.

Among the significant transactions on which the law firm’s corporate department, led by corporate partner David Kaplan, advised was the acquisition of Oakford Manor nursing home for leading UK independent care homes group Rushcliffe Care Limited

Rushcliffe Care based in Loughborough now operates 22 care homes across the Midlands and Essex, with David Kaplan advising on all its recent acquisitions.

In the region’s accountancy sector, a team led by corporate partner Julia Brown advised leading regional chartered accountants Smith Cooper on its merger with Blythens, one of Nottingham’s oldest accountancy practices.

Smith Cooper, which has nine offices throughout the Midlands, now plans to expand its Nottingham operations and strengthen its presence in the city.

In addition to advising companies and individuals on mergers and acquisitions of all sizes, Flint Bishop’s corporate team has also been heavily involved in providing finance and banking advice in recent weeks.

The team, across both Nottingham and Derby, during the period provided advice to Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, Royal Bank of Scotland Invoice Finance and Venture Finance plc on the funding of acquisitions. Additionally, a team led by David Kaplan and corporate partner, Gavin White, advised NatWest Bank on its funding of the £12mil management buy out of Derby based Datapath Limited.

To cap all the hard work, the Nottingham team led by Gavin White completed a hat trick of transactions in a 24 hour period, a sale of an engineering company, the sale of a credit business and the acquisition of a PLC.

David Kaplan, Head of Corporate at Flint Bishop, said: “Our corporate teams across Derby and Nottingham have acted on a number of major transactions over the recent weeks. We have provided advice to a variety of clients including individuals, large corporates and major financial institutions. During the recent period we have advised clients on a variety of corporate matters such as acquisitions and disposals, banking and finance and group reorganisations.
“The fact that we have been asked to handle so many high profile and diverse transactions is a reflection of the team’s growing reputation as a provider of quality, commercially focused, corporate advice.
