Law Society president hails Flint Bishop’s diversity

Andrew Holroyd OBE, the new president of the Law Society of England and Wales, has commended Flint Bishop Solicitors on its drive to embrace diversity.

Mr Holroyd, who was visiting the firm’s Derby head office, talked about how the legal profession is changing, particularly in terms of consolidation within the UK's law firms.

He said: “It is good to visit such a successful law firm where diversity is so high on the agenda. Flint Bishop shows a real commitment to recruiting and developing people based solely on ability regardless of race, cultural background or gender"

Earlier this year Flint Bishop came top in a national diversity survey conducted by the Law Society on behalf of the Black Solicitors Network and Commission for Racial Equality.

It found that the firm employs more women and people from ethnic backgrounds among its partners, associates, paralegals and law trainees than any other firm of solicitors in Britain.

Almost 10 per cent of its staff and partners in these four categories are from ethnic backgrounds, while more than 67 per cent of legal posts are filled by women.
