No half measures at Flint Bishop!
Not the usual ‘bar’ course associated with a legal firm; this one was more about pulling pints!
Derby-based law firm, Flint Bishop, enrolled six employees on a pub licensing course as part of its strategy to develop the team’s insight into the challenges facing licensees, adding to its existing technical expertise and market knowledge.
Partner Andrew Cochrane was joined on the course by two assistant solicitors (Karen Hughes and Joanna Cochrane), two licensing clerks (Amy Wood and Nikki Rennie) and one licensing manager (Tony Bateman) and all now hold the
National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders
(NLCPLH). The team were already experts in the field and so the course has not expanded their knowledge, rather it has given them greater empathy with the pressures faced by their clients.
Andrew Cochrane, partner and head of licensing at Flint Bishop said: “At Flint Bishop we act on behalf of many individual personal licence holders and so are very experienced in dealing with the issues they face. But we want to truly understand the pressures of life behind the bar so we can add extra value to the service and technical expertise we provide. This is why we sent everyone in our team on the course.”
Some of the Flint Bishop team can’t get enough of the training and have now gone on to complete the more advanced course, the National Liscensee Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors.
