Flint Bishop scales new heights with major construction deal
|
 |
Flint Bishop’s experienced construction team, headed up by Thomas Jacobs, will be involved in the various stages of the redevelopment of the main campus on Infirmary Road in the town.
The firm will initially be providing legal services for the appointment of consultants. Thereafter, they will assist with legal services involved in arranging building contractors for each stage of the development process. Additional legal services in relation to funding, planning and property transactions will also be provided in due course.
Chesterfield College has been awarded a Beacon College status in recognition of its outstanding teaching and learning. The college is based at three sites across the north of Derbyshire. Its Infirmary Road site is located close to the centre and Tapton House is a mile further out of town, whilst its Clowne campus is situated 10 miles from Infirmary Road close to the centre of Clowne village. The College also holds the Training Quality Standard.
Commenting on the firms’ appointment by Chesterfield College, Thomas Jacobs, partner and head of the construction and engineering team at Flint Bishop, said:
“We are delighted to have been appointed by Chesterfield College and look forward to being associated with such a high profile project.
“Our construction team has enjoyed particular success this year, becoming a member of the Legal 500 for the first time and gaining Tier 3 status. We hope to reach Tier 2 within the next 12-18 months.
“Flint Bishop already has a proven track record in the education sector and has recently represented Derby College on both its £42m Roundhouse redevelopment and the acquisition of a 93,000 sq ft building on Pride Park in Derby, which is the largest property deal in Derby for almost a decade.”
Trevor Clay, deputy principal at Chesterfield College, added:
“We are pleased to welcome Flint Bishop to the project team. Tom and his team have a vast amount of experience and we look forward to working together on this very exciting project.”
