Flint Bishop has been working in partnership with the UK’s leading source of cancer support, Macmillan, since 2013. In the four years since the partnership began, Flint Bishop have raised almost £20,000 to help local people in Derbyshire who have been affected by cancer.
In the last few years, more than 300 wills have been prepared, with a suggested donation of £50 for a single will and £100 for a double will (with Gift Aid also being available) as part of Flint Bishop’s ‘Free-Wills’ scheme.
The money that Flint Bishop has raised for Macmillan over the last four years could help the charity to fund the following:
- A Macmillan nurse for more than 740 hours;
- 108 Macmillan grants (to help people affected by cancer heat their homes during treatment, this is usually approx. £185 per grant); and
- A Macmillan information and support centre for two months.
Ian Beardmore, Managing Partner of Private Client Services comments “I am very pleased that we have been able to support Macmillan for a number of years with various schemes and fundraising campaigns. Most people have been affected by, or know someone who has been affected by cancer, so it is only right that we fully support Macmillan and do what we can for our local community.”
In Derbyshire alone, 16 people a day receive a cancer diagnosis and by the year 2030, it is expected that 70,000 people will be living with cancer. That figure is enough to fill Pride Park Stadium – twice. The funds generated by Flint Bishop are restricted for use in Derbyshire and, as a firm that values its local community, Flint Bishop wishes to support Macmillan to ensure that nobody in Derbyshire will ever have to face cancer alone.
