We are widely regarded as one of the best law firms in the East Midlands, and can trace our roots back over 120 years. Legend has it, Messrs Flint, Bishop and Barnett met together in a Derby pub to create the firm. We are rightly proud of our history and the benefits that such heritage instils; although we have changed dramatically since then, our values remain the same: traditional, approachable, friendly, professional and client-led.
Like any progressive organisation, we have evolved in terms of culture, structure, size and service. Following a period of sustained growth (The Lawyer Magazine named us fastest growing UK Law Firm in 2007) we now advise a diverse range of clients from individuals and owner managed companies, to national and global plcs and banks as well as clients engaged in the public sector, including Local and Central Government departments and Educational Institutions.
What sets us apart
Our strategy of putting our client's needs at the centre of our thinking and decision making, sets us apart from other law firms. We call this 'putting you first'. This approach has resulted in a strong reputation for providing quality advice across all our services, in particular by our commercial property team which recently won the prestigious 'Deal of the Year' award at The Insider Magazine's East Midlands Property Dinner in addition to receiving three shortlist nominations for national awards.
To reinforce this, feedback from our recent Lexcel 4 accreditation is some of the strongest received to date and results from client questionnaires consistently gives us over 95% positive performance delivery result.
Our culture also sets us apart - we are friendly, supportive, open, trusting and innovative. It is this mix of elements that saw us recently awarded ‘Mould Breaking Firm of the Year’ by the Managing Partners Forum, an award made to the firm which “created innovative approaches to doing business that have improved its commercial prospects as well as breaking the mould”.
However, it is not our goal to be the biggest, we simply want to be the best. Perhaps that’s why our team never lose sight of their greatest strength: their commitment to you.
