Vacation Scheme
We recently launched a vacation scheme where four university students get the opportunity to shadow current trainee solicitors. The Vacation Scheme runs for two weeks each August. The scheme gives an opportunity to experience firsthand what it is like working as a trainee in a law firm. The placement is based at our Derby office and is a great opportunity to get a feel for working in a law firm.

Training Contracts
As a trainee you’ll have the opportunity to work in a challenging and rewarding environment; gaining exposure to a wide range of legal business. Our clients range from national property firms and well known brands to local SMEs and high net worth individuals. Your training contract will be split into four six month seats in our Derby office. We take the quality of your training contract very seriously; from day one you will have an assigned training partner and regular feedback sessions with your Head of Department.We provide in-house training from other fee earners to help you develop all the skills needed to become a successful solicitor. As well as the internal training, our trainees are enrolled on the PSC course with a highly regarded external course provider.
The trainees at Flint Bishop are very much part of the team and we encourage you to get involved with the marketing events the firm participates in. There are a wide number of organisations for you to get involved with, such as Network DE1, Derby Young Lawyers and the Junior Lawyers Division and we want you to build positive relationships with other young professionals in the area.

We will contact candidates late January / early February 2010 to advise if we will be pursuing their application and when our first interviews will be held.

Following the first interview successful candidates will be invited to a selection day usually held in July. The selection day will comprise of a second interview, you’ll be asked to deliver a presentation and take part in group tasks. There will also be a tour of the firm and a chance to get together with some of the partners, newly qualified solicitors and the current trainees over lunch. Offers will be made to the successful candidates shortly after the selection day.
