Increase in National Minimum Wage

The Government has announced that the National Minimum wage is to increase on 1 October 2011. The minimum for an adult, that is anyone aged 21 and above, will increase by 15p to £6.08 per hour.

There are to be similar increases across other age brackets with the minimum for 18 to 20 year olds going up to £4.98 per hour and minimum wages for 16 to 17 year olds to increase to £3.68 per hour.

The rate for apprentices is also set to rise by 10p to £2.60 per hour.
