Last night, the Midlands Insider recognised leading firms at its annual ‘Dealmakers Dinner’ at a prestigious black tie event, to look back at some of the largest and most prestigious deals to hit the region.
The event was marked with an awards ceremony where Flint Bishop’s Corporate team acted on a number of the region’s deals which were nominated for awards. These deals included, LDC’s £25m development capital investment in Aspin Group, the management buyout of Magnet Expert and Hilo Capital’s acquisition of national jewellery outlet, Chapelle Jewellery.
Flint Bishop, along with Smith Cooper, celebrated their involvement as advisors on the “SME Deal of the Year” for the sale of the UK’s largest designer-outlet jewellery chain, Chapelle Jewellery, to Hilco Capital.
Martyn Brierley, Partner and Head of Corporate at Flint Bishop comments “It has been an exciting twelve months for the Corporate department, which continues to act for clients on high value projects in the region – the fact that we have advised on a number of the transactions which were nominated for awards at this year’s East Midlands Insider Deal Maker’s awards is a reflection of the high quality work we have been advising our clients on. It was good to be recognised for providing legal advice for the SME Deal of the Year, the acquisition by Hilco Capital of nationally recognised, Chapelle Jewellery. Some of the deals we act on go unreported by the press due to the restrictions that are often placed on publicising transactions. As the department continues to win more instructions, we are very much looking forward to expanding the Corporate team in the coming months in order to continue to deliver to our clients a high quality and bespoke service.”
Managing Partner of Commercial Services, Qamer Ghafoor comments “Over the last few years, we have heavily invested in resource to our Corporate team. Martyn took over the department earlier this year and his dedication and support has not gone unnoticed by the clients he services. We have had excellent feedback and continue to work alongside some of the region’s heavyweight banks and accountancy firms. These acknowledgements are a testament to our team’s work and reputation in the marketplace as a leader in corporate finance advice.”
