How bold statements like this could contribute to your bad debts
Have your debtors ever feedback that your sales reps have made false promises? Maybe they feel as though your marketing material has mismanaged their expectations of your products or services.
I’m sure that your Credit control team will be all too familiar with responses such as:
“I’m not paying because your sales rep told me to ignore the renewal clause in the contract”
“I was informed that the product I bought would be with me in less than two weeks, it took months. Why should I pay now?”
Sometimes, these responses are simply excuses to avoid or delay payment. However, sometimes your customer may have a point. Perhaps your sales team has made a claim which you know to be untruthful.
