Derby Lawyers See Deal Value Exceed £50m So Far In 2012
|
 |
The corporate department of Derby solicitors, Flint Bishop, has seen a massive surge in demand for its corporate finance services in the first quarter of 2012, completing projects for five major clients in less than six weeks with a total deal value exceeding £50m.
International scaffolding, cement mixer and wheelbarrow specialist Altrad approached Flint Bishop to help with the acquisition of £37m turnover company Generation UK Limited. Generation specialises in non-mechanical access systems, builder’s equipment and safety products and Altrad has acquired it to expand its product and service offering within the UK.
As part of this plan, Flint Bishop has also assisted Altrad & NSG U.K. Ltd to acquire £3.5m turnover scaffolding business MTD. The acquisition complements NSG’s existing core skills and offers expansion opportunities to provide Access for Social Housing.
Flint Bishop has also assisted major funders to fund acquisitions. As well as acting for ABN Amro Commercial Finance on two management buyouts, Flint Bishop has also assisted the Co-operative Bank in its funding of the private-equity backed management buy-out of Health, Safety and Engineering Consultants Ltd.
Partner and Head of Corporate at Flint Bishop, Ran Oren (pictured), says: “Demand for our corporate finance services has surged in Q1, leading us to take on new solicitor Martyn Brierley.
“These transactions reflect an increase in deal activity in 2012, which we hope will continue through Q2 and Q3, although talk of a double dip recession might have a negative impact on this. We are seeing a strong demand for our service, which reflects our level of expertise and ongoing commitment to delivering excellent client service. On international projects, our clients know we are prepared to work around the clock to help them secure the right deal”.
