Relationship breakdown: A New Year, a new you?

divider

January is often a time when couples who have been experiencing difficulties take the decision to separate or divorce.  Christmas and New Year holidays can be very stressful for families who are already experiencing difficulties.  The current economic climate and the associated personal financial pressures being experienced may well cause even greater stress at this time of year.

Couples who have been experiencing problems for some time may have used the Christmas break to consider their feelings and talk things through with their partner. Other couples may have hoped to have a final Christmas together as a family before making a fresh start in the New Year.  The start of a New Year often focuses minds on whether a relationship is working.  Traditionally therefore January and February are two of the busiest months of the year for solicitors dealing with the breakdown of relationships.

If you are contemplating separation it is important that you have a full understanding at the outset as to your options in order to allow you to make the best decision as to your next steps.  Our team consists of highly experienced specialist family lawyers.  An initial appointment with one of our solicitors will allow them to explain the process involved in:

1. divorce
2. financial arrangements on separation whether you are married or not
3. arrangements for your children.

This can help take the worry out of the situation by ensuring you are better informed as to your options allowing you to make the right decision about your future appreciating the possible financial outcomes.
