Derby law firm Flint Bishop has assisted with the sale of Derby builders merchants, J F Beale Ltd, which supplies building and landscaping materials to the trade and public.
The family-owned business has been trading for over thirty years but owners Steven and Jenny Beale decided the time was right to find a buyer and retire.
The business has been sold to Anglesey-based independent builders merchant Huws Gray, which now has a total of 46 trading sites across the UK.
Partner and head of Corporate Finance at Flint Bishop, Ran Oren says: “With interest in buying the business from Huws Gray and other parties, we guided Steve and Jen through the most appropriate transaction structure and, combined with our transparent approach to due diligence and our pragmatic negotiation style, we managed to complete in a very short space of time.
“The business sale went particularly well as Steve and Jenny developed a strong relationship with the buyer from the outset, which helped massively during negotiations. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Steve and Jenny and I wish Huws Gray lots of success with their first expansion into the East Midlands.”
Steven Beale says: “Both Jenny and I were most impressed with Flint Bishop and their professional and prompt dealing with the sale of our company. We had unlimited access to Ran and his team and cannot speak highly enough of the support given.”
Stuart Peck and Janet Morgan from Derby accountants Smith Cooper also advised Steve and Jenny on tax and accounting matters in relation to the business sale.
