Bowers Electricals, the Heanor based manufacturer of Refurbished High Voltage and Low Voltage Power and Distribution equipment, has scooped the Manufacturing in Excellence Award at this year’s inaugural Derby Telegraph Business Awards, sponsored by Flint Bishop Solicitors.
Judging for the awards is based on a rigorous research that covers criteria including: how the business has upheld the Derby traditions in manufacturing, helping the region, innovation and sustainability.
Andrew Cochrane, Partner and Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution comments: “We jumped at the chance of sponsoring this particular award as manufacturing plays a vital role in the Derbyshire business community.
“Choosing a winner from the entries was incredibly hard, but Bowers Electricals really impressed us across all the judging categories; in particular their ability to maintain a consistent level of turnover despite significant investments in innovation and new product development. This is even more impressive when you consider the number of UK manufacturers that have reduced in size or disappeared altogether.”
Michael Bowers, Managing Director of Bowers Electricals said: “Bowers were delighted to be selected as finalists for this award, and thrilled to have won against some fantastic competition. We can’t thank Flint Bishop enough for choosing us as their winner. The award has been a huge pat on the back to the whole team at Bowers Electricals. Derby has a great tradition of engineering and manufacturing excellence, and we are proud to be recognised as part of that heritage.”
The glitzy ceremony, which had 13 separate award categories, was held at The Roundhouse in Derby. It attracted over 350 guests and was hosted by TV personality Paul Ross and East Midlands Today newsreader Anne Davies.
